Botanical Garden Revives Grand Junction’s Blue Light Holiday Tradition
<p>The Western Colorado Botanical Gardens is bringing back a cherished holiday tradition to Grand Junction. In honor of Marc Cadez, the man behind the legendary &#8220;Blue Light House,&#8221; the gardens will glow once more with the iconic blue lights that delighted the community for years.</p>
<h3>A Legacy of Light</h3>
<p>Marc Cadez’s <em>Blue Light House</em> began in 2006 with around 40,000 lights and grew into a dazzling spectacle of nearly 600,000 lights. Over the years, his holiday display became a local legend, drawing visitors from across the region.</p>
<p>Cadez’s dedication to spreading joy through his festive light display continued until his passing in 2019. Following his death, the lights went dark, leaving many in the community longing for their return.</p>

<h3>Reviving a Beloved Tradition</h3>
<p>The Western Colorado Botanical Gardens, with support from community sponsors, is now reigniting Cadez’s vision. The gardens will host the blue lights display every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night throughout December.</p>
<p>“The blue lights have been a tradition in Grand Junction,” said Barbara Traylor Smith, title sponsor of the event. “Marc Cadez’s joy was to bring those lights to life, and now we’re proud to continue his legacy.”</p>
<p>Smith noted that the event aims to rekindle the magic Cadez created, allowing new generations to experience the holiday cheer he brought to Grand Junction.</p>
<h3>A Community Event</h3>
<p>Local business Grand Valley Auto is adding to the festive spirit by purchasing 1,000 tickets to distribute to the community. Tickets will be handed out at the event entrance on a first-come, first-served basis.</p>
<p>This gesture ensures that more families can partake in the joy of the blue lights, reflecting the community-driven essence of Cadez’s original display.</p>
