Crime of the Week: Authorities Seek Witnesses in Brass Rail Tavern Assault
<p data-start="177" data-end="285">Jeep owner punched during attempted vehicle theft in Mesa County; Crime Stoppers appeals for public help</p>
<p data-start="287" data-end="519">GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Local authorities are seeking assistance from the public after a violent attempted carjacking outside a popular tavern in downtown Grand Junction left one man injured and investigators with few leads.</p>
<p data-start="521" data-end="654">The incident occurred on the night of Sunday, March 30, near the Brass Rail Tavern, a long-standing bar frequented by locals.</p>
<p data-start="656" data-end="939">According to a report from Crime Stoppers of Mesa County, the victim had just started his Jeep when he stepped out to speak with a friend. Moments after the friend left, an unknown male grabbed the man’s shirt from behind and demanded the vehicle keys, reportedly saying:</p>

<p data-start="991" data-end="1203">The victim was punched in the face during the encounter but was unable to identify the attacker—or a possible second person involved. The assailants then fled the scene, and no arrests have been made to date.</p>
