Fort Wayne Welcomes Hummus Republic: A Mediterranean Dream Rooted in Family and Flavor

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – A taste of the Mediterranean has arrived in southwest Fort Wayne thanks to a father-son team whose culinary journey is rooted in both passion and heritage.

Arfak and Jared Uddowlah, a Fort Wayne-based father and son, have opened a new Hummus Republic location on South Thomas Road, just steps away from Target. The restaurant, part of a growing California-based franchise, offers build-your-own bowls, pitas, and wraps bursting with fresh, health-conscious Mediterranean flavors.

A Family Dream Years in the Making

The Uddowlahs have lived in Fort Wayne for over two decades, and for Jared, bringing Hummus Republic to town is more than just a business venture—it’s a personal milestone.

“It’s really important for us that Fort Wayne loves what we are cooking, and loves the service when they step through that door,” said Jared, beaming with pride.

He and his father were drawn to the franchise because the food reminded them of their own Pakistani and Bangladeshi roots—fresh, flavorful, and made with care.

Fresh Food, Fresh Start

At Hummus Republic, freshness is non-negotiable. Every ingredient is prepared daily, from the hand-mixed hummus to the marinated proteins and vibrant toppings.

“We just want to be able to make everything accurately, and also be able to share that excitement with the customers that come in the door,” Jared explained.

In the lead-up to the official grand opening later this summer, the duo is running a soft opening, using the time to train staff, refine operations, and grow interest by word of mouth.

“We’ve been inviting friends and family to come through the doors,” Jared said. “Tell them to try the food out as we are making it and preparing it.”

Summit City Gets a Mediterranean Twist

The new eatery joins a rising trend of health-forward, fast-casual dining in the region. But for Jared and Arfak, it’s also a chance to give something back to a city they’ve long called home.

Their shared goal? To serve up more than just food—to offer community, comfort, and connection.

Hummus Republic will be open every day except Sunday, and beginning next week, will operate from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The grand opening is expected to be announced later this summer.
