Over 31 Pounds of Cocaine Uncovered in I-70 Traffic Stop
<p>A routine traffic stop on I-70 in Eagle County resulted in a major drug bust, leading to the seizure of over 31 pounds of cocaine and the arrest of a suspect.</p>
<h2>Routine Stop Turns into a Drug Seizure</h2>
<p>On Tuesday, Feb. 18, a deputy with the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office stopped a pickup truck on I-70 for multiple traffic violations. Inside the vehicle were four adults, a 6-year-old, and a 4-month-old, one of whom was not properly restrained.</p>
<p>After issuing a warning for speeding and addressing the child safety concern, the deputy requested permission to search the vehicle.</p>

<h2>Discovery of Cocaine and Cash</h2>
<p>A narcotics-certified K9 was called in, leading to the discovery of 14,188 grams (over 31 pounds) of cocaine, with traces of fentanyl also detected. Additionally, authorities seized $25,709 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from drug transactions.</p>
<h2>Arrest and Charges</h2>
<p>Francisco Javier Silva Leon, 26, of Aurora, was taken into custody and transported to the Eagle County Detention Facility. He is currently being held on a $100,000 bond and faces multiple felony charges, including:</p>

<li>Conspiracy – Class 1 Drug Felony</li>
<li>Child Abuse – Class 3 Felony</li>
</ul>
<p>Authorities continue their investigation into the case as they work to determine the full scope of the drug operation.</p>
