Local DAR Chapter Celebrates America’s 250th Birthday with Ceremony

<p>Fort Wayne&comma; Indiana – The Mary Penrose Wayne Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution &lpar;DAR&rpar; marked a significant milestone in the nation’s history with a special ceremony dedicated to celebrating America’s 250th birthday on Saturday&comma; November 16&comma; 2024&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<h3>A Ceremony to Honor America&&num;8217&semi;s Independence<&sol;h3>&NewLine;<p>The event&comma; held at Guldlin Park&comma; began at 2 p&period;m&period; with the dedication of a commemorative marker to honor America’s independence and the people who made it possible&period; The marker was placed as a reminder of the bravery and sacrifice of the men and women who fought for American freedom during the Revolutionary War&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>During the ceremony&comma; Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker proclaimed November 16th as &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;America 250th Revolutionary War Patriot Recognition Day”&period; The ceremony was attended by over 175 members of the Mary Penrose Wayne Chapter&comma; who are part of the DAR&comma; a women’s service organization with a lineage traced back to individuals who contributed to securing American independence&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><img class&equals;"aligncenter size-full wp-image-8214" src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;budgyapp&period;com&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2024&sol;11&sol;DAR-ceremony-Americas-250th-Fort-Wayne&period;jpg" alt&equals;"DAR ceremony&comma; America’s 250th&comma; Fort Wayne" width&equals;"630" height&equals;"440" &sol;><&sol;p>&NewLine;<h3>Ceremonial Highlights<&sol;h3>&NewLine;<ul>&NewLine;<li>Speeches from Local Leaders&colon; Various speakers shared reflections on the importance of America’s history and the nation’s path to independence&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Presentation of the Color Guard&colon; A ceremonial display of military tradition was presented&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>National Anthem Performance&colon; The ceremony closed with the playing of the national anthem&comma; honoring the country’s legacy&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<&sol;ul>&NewLine;<h3>A Day for Reflection<&sol;h3>&NewLine;<p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;We are recognizing and dedicating this marker to commemorate the bravery of the men and women who achieved American Independence from 1775-1783&comma;” said Benita Steyer&comma; a member of the Mary Penrose Wayne Chapter&period; &&num;8220&semi;When we see this marker&comma; we as Hoosiers can reflect positively on Indiana’s and America’s history&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The celebration is part of a national initiative to commemorate America’s 250th Anniversary&comma; and it reflects the DAR’s ongoing mission to preserve and honor the history of American independence&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
