City Leaders Unveil New State-of-the-Art Pavilion at Franke Park
<p>Fort Wayne, Ind. – On Wednesday, city leaders celebrated the grand opening of the McMillen Family Pavilion at Franke Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. This new pavilion marks a significant milestone in the ongoing Franke Park Renaissance project, which aims to revitalize the area and enhance community spaces.</p>
<h2>A Key Component of the Franke Park Renaissance</h2>
<p>The McMillen Family Pavilion is the centerpiece of Phase One of the Renaissance project. The pavilion, along with other recent upgrades such as a new grand entrance on Goshen Road, a bridge over Spy Run Creek, and improved trails, represents a major investment in Fort Wayne’s parks and outdoor spaces.</p>
<p>The pavilion itself features a 6,000-square-foot great hall that can accommodate up to 400 people, making it a perfect venue for community events and private gatherings.</p>

<h2>Community and Art Integration</h2>
<p>A highlight of the pavilion is the 2,000-square-foot lobby, which showcases beautiful artwork by local artists Paul Demaree and Jeremy Stroup. This space seamlessly connects the main hall to a warming kitchen, adding functionality and a touch of local culture to the design.</p>
<p>An exterior fireplace on the west patio provides a cozy outdoor gathering space for visitors, while the pavilion’s universally-accessible features ensure it is welcoming to everyone in the community.</p>
<h2>A Space for All Fort Wayne Residents</h2>
<p>Mayor Sharon Tucker emphasized the inclusive nature of the pavilion, saying, “What I would like the public to know is that this is a space that is open and designed for every single Fort Waynean out there. So please take advantage of this, please come be a part of what we have to offer.”</p>
<h2>Event Rentals and Future Reservations</h2>
<p>In addition to being a public gathering space, the McMillen Family Pavilion will also be available for private events, with dates for 2025 already open for booking. Those interested in reserving the pavilion for events can do so through the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department.</p>
