Peer 180 Provides a Safe, Sober Space During Alcohol Awareness Month

<p>April marks Alcohol Awareness Month&comma; a time to reflect on the role alcohol plays in our lives&period; For Peer 180&comma; a local recovery community organization in Grand Junction&comma; it’s an opportunity to continue its mission of offering a safe and sober environment for those in recovery&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<h2>A Place for Support and Understanding<&sol;h2>&NewLine;<p>Peer 180 isn’t just a support group—it’s a community&period; Executive Director Angie Bertrand wants people to know that help is always available&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;If you want to get into recovery&comma; we will help you&period; If you would like to stay in recovery&comma; we will help and support you also&comma;&&num;8221&semi; Bertrand said&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The nonprofit provides coaching&comma; support groups&comma; and activities designed to help people navigate sobriety in a welcoming environment&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><img class&equals;"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11440" src&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;budgyapp&period;com&sol;wp-content&sol;uploads&sol;2025&sol;04&sol;Peer-180-recovery-support-group&period;jpg" alt&equals;"Peer 180 recovery support group" width&equals;"385" height&equals;"373" &sol;><&sol;p>&NewLine;<h2>Monthly Events and Programs<&sol;h2>&NewLine;<p>Every month&comma; Peer 180 hosts events and workshops open to anyone who needs support&period; Some of their regular gatherings include&colon;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<ul data-spread&equals;"false">&NewLine;<li>All Recovery Meetings – Open to anyone in recovery&comma; regardless of the addiction&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Parents in Recovery – A space for parents navigating sobriety while raising children&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Creating in Recovery – Encouraging self-expression through art and creativity&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<li>Dog Days of Recovery – Connecting recovery with the therapeutic presence of dogs&period;<&sol;li>&NewLine;<&sol;ul>&NewLine;<p>These meetings aim to foster connection and encourage open discussions about sobriety&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<h2>Alcohol Awareness Month&colon; A Time for Conversation<&sol;h2>&NewLine;<p>Beyond providing a safe space&comma; Peer 180 wants to spark conversations about alcohol use and its effects&period; Bertrand emphasizes that this month isn’t just about those struggling with addiction—it’s about self-reflection for everyone&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;Not everyone has an alcohol problem&comma; but we think that it’s good to just talk about how alcohol plays a part in your life&comma;&&num;8221&semi; Bertrand said&period; &&num;8220&semi;Why are you doing what you’re doing&quest; Do you have consequences from that&quest; Do you need to just talk about it&quest;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<h2>Collaboration Is Key<&sol;h2>&NewLine;<p>Peer 180 works alongside other recovery organizations in Grand Valley&comma; ensuring that individuals have access to the help they need&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;There’s never going to be enough resources and there’s never going to be an end to the need&comma;&&num;8221&semi; Bertrand explained&period; &&num;8220&semi;So it’s really important that the resources that we do have collaborate to help people in need&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>With Alcohol Awareness Month in full swing&comma; Peer 180 continues to be a beacon of hope&comma; offering support&comma; dialogue&comma; and a safe place for anyone on the path to recovery&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
