Girls on the Run of Northeast Indiana is actively looking for volunteer coaches for its 2025 season, which kicks off in March. The nonprofit organization is dedicated to empowering young girls through physical activity and life skills development.
Volunteer Coaches Empowering Young Girls
Starting the week of March 10, volunteer coaches will have the chance to make a meaningful impact on young girls in Fort Wayne and surrounding counties. By using a research-based curriculum, coaches will help inspire girls to set goals, develop healthy habits, and discover their full potential. The program will culminate in a 5K event, with teams of girls meeting twice a week for eight weeks of training.
Morgan Comsia, Executive Director of Girls on the Run of Northeast Indiana, emphasizes that no experience in running is required to become a coach. “Anyone can make a difference as a GOTR coach. If you are passionate about inspiring girls, supporting the next generation, and creating positive change in your communities, Girls on the Run is the place for you,” she said. “Coaching a GOTR team is so much more than lap goals and stretches – it’s about helping participants realize their potential.”
Free Training and Support for Coaches
All volunteer coaches will receive free, comprehensive training, which includes education on creating welcoming environments, fostering connections, and adapting the program to accommodate girls of various abilities. This training ensures that coaches are well-prepared to create a positive and inclusive experience for the participants.
Head and assistant coaches must be at least 18 years old, pass a background check, and commit to attending the weekly practices. Coaches who meet these criteria will also be eligible for a $100 coach stipend at the end of the season.
