Delta Airlines Secures Service Agreement at Grand Junction Regional Airport

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – The Grand Junction Regional Airport Authority board has officially approved the service agreement to bring Delta Air Lines back to the Grand Junction Regional Airport.

This follows the previous announcement that Delta service would return to the airport in December. The new agreement lays out the details of how Delta and its partner Skywest will be funded over the course of one year.

“Those two organizations will grant us the dollars to help support this agreement with Skywest,” said Chris West, a commissioner with the Grand Junction Regional Airport Authority. “Skywest will be able to run this air service and feel confident that financially, it makes sense for them.”

The funding will come from two grants – one worth $475,000 from the Air Service Alliance, and another $950,000 grant from the United States Department of Transportation.

Passenger Numbers Expected to Grow

Airport officials are anticipating a strong year for passenger traffic, even before the addition of Delta’s flights. They expect to serve more than 560,000 passengers in 2024, and project that number to exceed 600,000 in 2025.

The return of Delta service is expected to further boost the airport’s passenger numbers in the coming years, as the community regains access to the airline’s extensive route network.

With the service agreement now officially approved, the stage is set for Delta to resume operations at the Grand Junction Regional Airport starting in December.
