A Fort Wayne woman is turning to the community for assistance after a hit-and-run crash left her injured over the weekend. Rachel Reinking, who was hospitalized following the incident, believes a red Dodge Ram from the mid-to-late 90s struck her car and fled the scene.
The Incident and Aftermath
The crash occurred Sunday on East State Boulevard as Reinking was driving toward North Anthony Boulevard. She was T-boned by a vehicle, leaving her vehicle significantly damaged. “I remember being hit hard from the side, and then everything went black,” Reinking recalled in an interview.
Following the impact, Reinking was taken to the hospital with injuries, though she’s expected to recover. The truck involved is believed to have sustained noticeable damage due to the deployment of the airbags during the collision.
Details of the Vehicle
Reinking has described the vehicle as a red Dodge Ram, likely from the mid-to-late 90s. The truck reportedly had some white paint on the lower part of the body, and it is assumed the driver may have been unaware of the extent of damage sustained during the crash.
The Search for the Driver
Local authorities are now investigating the hit-and-run. The Fort Wayne Police Department has called on anyone with information regarding the truck or the driver to come forward. Given the nature of the collision, investigators believe the vehicle’s airbag deployment could be a key clue in identifying the driver.
Anyone with tips or details about the incident is urged to reach out to the Fort Wayne Police Department.
The Community’s Role
As often happens in cases like this, community involvement is crucial. The Fort Wayne Police Department is relying on the public to help piece together the events of the crash. As Reinking recovers, she remains hopeful that someone saw the crash or has information that can assist the investigation.
A hit-and-run is more than just a collision – it’s a violation of the trust that holds a community together. As residents rally behind Reinking, there’s a collective hope that the responsible driver will be found and held accountable for their actions.
