FORT WAYNE, Ind. One person is recovering in the hospital and a suspect is behind bars after a stabbing inside a southwest Fort Wayne home early Wednesday morning.
Police say the attack happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 4300 block of Whalers Cove, a quiet residential street just off Aboite Center Road.
What Police Found at the Scene
Fort Wayne Police officers arrived within minutes of the 911 call and discovered an adult male suffering from multiple stab wounds.
First responders applied emergency aid on site before medics rushed the victim to a local hospital. As of Wednesday afternoon, doctors list his condition as serious but non-life-threatening.
Detectives quickly determined the incident was not random. The suspect and victim knew each other, police confirmed.
Quick Arrest Ends Immediate Danger
Within hours, officers located and took the suspect into custody without further incident.
FWPD Sgt. Jeremy Webb told 21Alive the scene was secured rapidly and neighbors were never in danger. “This appears to be an isolated domestic situation,” Webb said. “There is no threat to the public at this time.”
Charges against the suspect are pending lab results and further interviews, according to the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
Normally Quiet Neighborhood Shaken
Residents on Whalers Cove describe the street as peaceful and family-oriented.
“I’ve lived here twelve years and nothing like this has ever happened,” said neighbor Sarah Mitchell, who asked that her real name not be used. “We heard sirens at 3:30 and saw all the police cars. It’s scary when it hits this close to home.”
The subdivision sits in the popular Aboite Township area known for good schools and low crime rates compared to other parts of the city.
