Marillac Health is set to open a new clinic this August, offering expanded healthcare services while also providing educational opportunities for students through a partnership with Colorado Mesa University Tech.
Collaboration Aims to Enhance Dental Hygiene Training
Kristy Schmidt, Chief Development Officer of Marillac Health, confirmed that CMU Tech is launching a new dental hygiene program. The new clinic will support this initiative by providing critical resources and facilities for student training.
The clinic will include a dedicated training room where students can gain hands-on experience. CMU Tech will also conduct classes and clinical sessions using the clinic’s dental operatories, ensuring students receive practical, real-world education.
Excitement Surrounds New Program and Facility
Schmidt emphasized the importance of this partnership. “We’re very excited about this and very excited that they are creating and developing a brand-new program in their curriculum to be able to train dental hygienists that will all be able to take advantage. Of course, you know, in the years to come,” she said.
Most of the classes will take place during the evenings and weekends, ensuring they do not interfere with the clinic’s regular operations.
CMU Tech Welcomes Non-Traditional Learning Model
CMU Tech officials expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing their commitment to providing students with alternative learning experiences outside of a traditional classroom setting.
With this partnership, both organizations aim to enhance healthcare education while increasing access to essential dental services in the community.
