SPENCER CO., Ind. – First responders in Spencer County are continuing their search for 22-year-old Hunter Conner from Newburgh, who went missing in the Ohio River on Thursday. Emergency teams rushed to the Grandview boat ramp after receiving a call that Conner was clinging to a kayak in the frigid waters.
The Search for Hunter Conner
Conner was reportedly hunting ducks when he ventured out to retrieve a shot duck from the river. Investigators say he was with another hunter who was able to reach shallow waters and immediately called for help. Authorities confirmed that while Conner’s kayak was located, he has not been found, and the search efforts are still ongoing.
Recovery Operations
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) officials announced that the operation is no longer classified as a rescue, but rather a recovery mission. Divers and sonar equipment are being utilized to locate Conner in the challenging, cold river waters. Several agencies have been involved in the search, and recovery efforts remain underway as crews continue to work through the night.
