Fort Wayne, Indiana—The iconic Giant American Flag that once graced the skyline over Glenbrook Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram is making a triumphant return. After a hiatus due to mechanical issues and a dramatic incident involving freezing temperatures, the flagpole is set to fly the stars and stripes once again.

A Symbol of Patriotism

What began as a heartfelt gesture to celebrate the dealership’s 20th anniversary in 1999 turned into one of the largest continuously flying flags in the United States. Standing tall at 232 feet, the original flag was made of 80 pounds of nylon and measured an impressive 50 feet by 80 feet. It became a beacon of patriotism, appreciation for the community, and gratitude to the customers who supported the business over the years.

A New Chapter

In late 2022, the flag had to be taken down due to a malfunction in the raising and lowering mechanism. Then, on a frigid December day, the flagpole snapped into three pieces. The community mourned the loss of this beloved landmark. However, hope emerged as a new flagpole arrived at the dealership. Carefully assembled and prepared, it will be raised during a special ceremony on July 2nd, 2024, at 10:00 am.

A Resilient Tribute

As the Glenbrook Dodge American Flag returns to the Fort Wayne skyline, it stands not only as a testament to resilience but also as a reminder of the enduring spirit of patriotism and community pride.
