19 Road Closure Set to Begin Monday Amid Improvement Efforts

Starting Monday, December 16, 19 Road in Grand Junction, Colorado, will be closed between Iron Drive and Highway 6 & 50. The temporary closure marks a significant phase in the 19 Road Improvement Project, a major infrastructure overhaul expected to continue until the summer of 2025.

J Road will remain accessible during this time, offering an alternative route for drivers. Additionally, 20 Road has been designated as the primary detour to access Highway 6 & 50.

Temporary Access Adjustments for Residents

Residents of the Iron Drive subdivision will face a change in their usual access routes. With the main entry point closed, a temporary access road along Rusty Rivet Road has been established to ensure connectivity.

The closure is essential to facilitate sewer line installations along 19 Road, stretching from Iron Drive to the canal located north of Highway 6 & 50. Crews are set to focus on this critical segment of the project over the coming week.

Utility Work to Accompany Road Improvements

In addition to sewer line installations, local utility provider Grand Valley Power will begin relocating power lines along 19 Road. The work will span from Iron Drive southward to Highway 6 & 50 and is expected to continue for several weeks. This dual effort aims to modernize essential infrastructure in the area.

Project Timeline and Traffic Expectations

The 19 Road Improvement Project is a comprehensive initiative designed to enhance traffic flow and infrastructure in the area. While the project will ultimately benefit the community, it will involve multiple road closures and traffic management measures through summer 2025.

Community members are encouraged to stay updated on road closures and project progress.
