City of Grand Junction Acknowledges Easter Omission in 2025 Calendar

Residents of Grand Junction who picked up their 2025 city calendars may have noticed something missing—Easter Sunday. The city has acknowledged the oversight and assured the public that steps will be taken to prevent similar mistakes in the future.

Human Error Leads to Missing Holiday

According to city officials, the calendar undergoes a manual review process each year before distribution. Despite these checks, Easter Sunday was unintentionally left off the list of printed holidays for 2025. The error was only caught after the calendars had already been distributed.

Hannah Ellis, interim Communications and Engagement Director for the City of Grand Junction, addressed the issue, stating, “You know, the calendar is something that our residents look forward to every year, and so we’re really excited to bring this new addition and to revise our calendar review process, which will hopefully relieve any mistakes that were made in the previous year. But we’re humans, and we make mistakes. So, we’re just grateful that our residents continue to participate, send in photos, and enjoy each calendar that’s put out every year.”

City Reassures Residents, No Complaints Received

Officials took to Facebook to issue an apology for the omission and to assure residents that future calendars will be more carefully reviewed. They also emphasized that, so far, they have not received any complaints regarding the error.

To clarify the correct date for those relying on the city calendar, officials reminded the public that Easter Sunday falls on April 20, 2025, and encouraged residents to mark their calendars accordingly.

Future Improvements to Calendar Review Process

While the city acknowledged that mistakes can happen, officials say they are committed to improving the calendar review process. Moving forward, additional verification steps will be added to prevent similar errors. The city aims to maintain the community’s trust in its annual calendar, which has become a local favorite.

Residents can expect an updated approach next year, ensuring that all major holidays, including Easter, are properly noted.
