Lamborghini Halo Urus Reaches Farther as Free Forza Livery

The one-off Halo Urus SE Master Chief 117 Edition is not for sale, but its free Forza Horizon 6 livery drops July 30 alongside scale-model prizes.

Lamborghini and Halo rolled out a one-off Urus SE Master Chief 117 Edition this week that no dealer will ever stock. The free matching livery lands in Forza Horizon 6 on July 30, and a limited run of 1:18-scale models is already in a public sweepstakes.

That split is the whole play. A static show car gets the cameras. The digital twin and the lottery keep the name circulating for months.

The Green Wrap Nobody Can Buy

The real car is a standard Urus SE wearing Master Chief armor. Matte green paint matches the MJOLNIR suit. Thicker accent lines track the body creases. Arrow markings point at vents. The number 117 sits on both front doors and the tailgate. A UNSC logo lands on the taillight cluster.

Gold-tinted windows echo the Spartan visor. Yellow headlight lenses finish the look. Underneath nothing changes. The twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 and plug-in hybrid system still make 789 horsepower.

  • 789 hp combined from the V8 and electric motor
  • 0-100 km/h in roughly 3.4 seconds on the standard SE
  • Top speed near 310 km/h
  • One physical example only, never offered for sale

Jalopnik’s Daniel Golson saw it in Culver City after Lamborghini flew him in. He called the gold tint and yellow lenses the best bits. The rest is a regular-degular Urus SE with better storytelling clothes.

That choice keeps the project simple. No chassis work. No powertrain tuning. No homologation paperwork for a new variant. The wrap shop handles the fiction layer and the standard SE underneath still does what a Urus SE does.

The arrows and the 117 markings do the heavy lifting for cameras. From a few feet away the car reads as Master Chief before it reads as Lamborghini. That is the point of a show piece that will never take a customer order.

Free Livery Drops Tomorrow in Forza

Starting July 30 every Forza Horizon 6 player can pull the Master Chief 117 Edition livery through the in-game Message Center. Redeem it once and the car drops straight into the garage. No extra purchase required.

Xbox Wire laid out the Master Chief 117 Edition livery details the day before Halo: Campaign Evolved launched. The in-game version matches the real wrap closely. Wheels differ and a few surface details got simplified, but the green, the gold glass, the 117s and the overall stance survive the translation.

Forza Horizon 6 itself has been live since May 19 on Xbox Series X|S and PC. The Forza Horizon 6 Japan open world already holds more than 550 cars. Adding a free Halo special costs Lamborghini and Xbox almost nothing and puts the branding in front of every Festival driver who opens the Message Center.

The Message Center route matters. Players do not hunt a storefront or complete a seasonal playlist. The livery arrives as a direct drop. That lowers the barrier to zero and raises the odds that the green Urus appears in public lobbies within hours of the unlock.

Wheels and simplified surface details are the only visible compromises. Everything that signals Master Chief stays intact. For a free cosmetic that is enough.

Hoonigan Warthog Still Steals Scenes

Outside the same Culver City studio sat the full-size Warthog Hoonigan built in 2021 for Halo Infinite. It rides a rock-crawler chassis with four-wheel steering (rear welded for drag duty) and a turbocharged Ford Windsor V8 good for more than 1,000 horsepower.

Forty-three-inch tires and a hood the size of a small boat make forward visibility almost zero. Golson still climbed in easily at 5-foot-9 and heard the thing fire. Game Warthogs top out around 78 mph. This one hits triple digits. It remains larger in the fiction (20 feet long, nearly 10 wide and tall) than the real build, yet the physical truck still looks absurd next to any normal SUV.

That contrast does quiet work. The green Urus looks fast and finished. The Warthog looks like it will run over the Urus and keep going. Both sit under the same Halo banner.

  • Urus SE 117: matte green show wrap, 789 hp, one static example
  • Hoonigan Warthog: rock-crawler chassis, over 1,000 hp, built to move
  • Shared stage: Culver City studio under the Halo banner
  • Shared job: give cameras two very different shapes of the same universe

The Warthog is five years older and still draws the eye first. Size and noise do that. The Urus then fills the polished Super SUV slot the Warthog could never occupy. Together they cover more ground than either piece alone.

Halo Campaign Evolved Rebuilds the Ring

Halo: Campaign Evolved launched globally on July 28. Premium owners got early access from July 23. It is a full Unreal Engine 5 rebuild of the 2001 Combat Evolved campaign plus three new missions starring Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson.

  1. July 23, 2026: Premium Edition early access begins
  2. July 28, 2026: Global launch on Xbox Series X|S, PC, Game Pass, Steam, PlayStation 5
  3. July 30, 2026: Master Chief Urus livery available in Forza Horizon 6
  4. September 13, 2026: 1:18-scale replica sweepstakes closes

Cross-play and cross-progression work across the platforms. The game supports four-player co-op. Classic weapons return alongside nine more from later Halo titles. Vehicles now let you hijack a Wraith. Skull modifiers remix every mission. The original story still starts with a crash landing on the ringworld, but the lighting, audio and controls feel current.

Xbox has kept Xbox titles still launch day-and-date on PC and now on PlayStation as well. Campaign Evolved continues that pattern. The Lamborghini car simply rides the same multiplatform wave.

The rebuild keeps the familiar opening and then layers modern systems on top. Hijacking a Wraith changes how encounters play out. Skull modifiers let veterans twist missions they already know. Four-player co-op turns the campaign into a shared run rather than a solo memory. None of that requires a new story spine. It requires a new engine and the will to ship everywhere at once.

Why Digital Liveries Beat Limited Editions

A production Master Chief Urus would have required engineering sign-off, dealer allocation, and a price that only a few hundred buyers would pay. This route needs a wrap shop, a Forza artist, and a sweepstakes landing page.

The second-order payoff is scale. Every Horizon player who claims the free livery parks a rolling billboard in online sessions, photo mode, and YouTube thumbnails for the rest of the game’s life. The 1:18 models, even in limited numbers, will surface on collector shelves and secondary markets. The one physical car did its job the moment the photos went live.

Car brands have chased game placements for years. This collab flips the usual order. The game content is the product. The real car is the press release.

Cost and reach move in opposite directions here. The wrap and the digital art cost a fraction of a homologated special edition. The audience for the free livery is every active Horizon 6 player, not a short list of allocation winners. The show car only has to look right under studio lights once. After that the file does the touring.

Scale Models and the Collector Chase

Xbox is producing a limited number of 1:18-scale Master Chief 117 Edition replicas. Entry is simple: follow Xbox on X and repost the official sweepstakes post with the hashtag #MasterChief117Sweepstakes. The window runs until 5:00 p.m. PT on September 13, 2026. Residents of most Xbox-supported regions 18 and older can enter. No purchase necessary.

a collectible worthy of any Spartan’s display

That line comes straight from the Xbox Wire announcement. Fans already treat the models as the only physical piece of the collab they might actually own. Expect eBay listings the week after winners are named.

The real Urus SE Master Chief 117 Edition will go back into storage or onto the next event floor. The livery will stay in Forza garages. The models will sit on desks. Together they keep both the Super SUV and the green Spartan visible long after the launch week photos stop circulating.

The sweepstakes rules keep the door wide. Follow, repost, hashtag. No receipt and no entry fee. That design matches the free livery strategy. Own the fantasy through a download or through a lucky draw. Buy nothing either way.

The Collab Spreads Across Three Screens

Campaign Evolved, Forza Horizon 6, and the Culver City photo set form one coordinated window rather than three separate stunts. Premium access opened July 23. The full game landed July 28. The livery unlocks July 30. The model draw stays open into September. Each date hands the next audience a reason to look again.

Platform reach multiplies the same assets. Campaign Evolved ships on Xbox Series X|S, PC, Game Pass, Steam, and PlayStation 5 with cross-play and cross-progression. Forza Horizon 6 already runs on Xbox Series X|S and PC. The show car needs only one studio and a press flight. The branding then travels on every screen those platforms touch.

Urus SE 117 One physical show car Press and event floors only
Forza livery Free in-game download Every Horizon 6 player from July 30
1:18 replica Limited sweepstakes model Entrants 18+ in most Xbox regions

Nothing in the stack requires a dealer. Nothing requires a paid DLC pack. The expensive object stays rare on purpose. The cheap objects stay abundant on purpose. That is how a one-off wrap outlives its own photo cycle.

How the Show Car Earns Its Keep

A car nobody can buy still has a job. It gives Golson and every other invited writer a physical object to stand beside. It gives Lamborghini and Halo a shared image that needs no explanation in a thumbnail. It gives the Forza team a reference for paint, glass tint, and door numbers.

After the shutters close, the metal object can vanish into storage. Its work is already done. The livery file and the scale models carry the same green and the same 117 forward without another flight to Culver City.

The Warthog parked outside the same studio proves the method is not new. Hoonigan built that truck in 2021 for Halo Infinite. It still shows up when a Halo vehicle needs to look dangerous in real space. The Urus SE 117 now fills the polished lane the Warthog leaves open. Two builds, one banner, years of reuse.

Tomorrow the download button lights up. That is when the collab stops being a photo op and starts being something players actually use.
