Downtown Grand Junction Adjusts Parking Enforcement Hours Again
Starting March 12, 2025, Grand Junction is rolling back its downtown parking enforcement hours to their previous schedule. The city had extended the hours in January but is now reversing the change after public feedback and operational assessments.
Back to the Original Hours
The enforcement window, which had been expanded from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., will now return to the original 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. timeframe. City officials initially made the adjustment to accommodate downtown development and increased traffic, but the extended hours led to concerns from business owners and visitors.
Key Parking Details
- Four-hour parking remains available on the 400, 500, and 600 blocks of Colorado Ave., as well as the north and south DMV lots.
- Parking permits are still required for designated lots on 600 Rood Ave. and 500 Ute Ave.
- Ten-hour pay stations are accessible along 600 Rood Ave.
- Pay stations accept coins, cards, and mobile payments via the Passport App.
- Rates are higher near central downtown, with lower fees for meters further out.
Free Parking Still Available
While enforcement applies to weekdays, parking remains free on weekends, holidays, and outside of enforcement hours. The rollback aims to balance accessibility with the needs of downtown businesses and residents.
As the city continues to fine-tune its parking policies, further adjustments could be on the horizon. For now, drivers can plan their downtown visits with the reassurance that enforcement hours are back to familiar territory.
