A 57-year-old woman is facing charges after crashing into multiple vehicles and eventually driving into a ravine in Grand Junction. The incident, which unfolded on December 18, ended with the driver being taken into custody and later released on a summons.
A Hit and Run Escalates
At approximately 9:45 a.m. on December 18, the Grand Junction Police Department (GJPD) responded to reports of a hit-and-run crash near N 12th Street and Bookcliff Avenue. Witnesses described a black SUV driving erratically and crashing into two vehicles before continuing its path northbound on N 12th Street.
- One occupant of the struck vehicles was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
SUV Found in Ravine
Shortly after the initial collisions, officers received another report that a vehicle had crashed into a ravine after passing through a nearby roundabout at N 12th Street and Horizon Drive.
Upon arrival, officers found the black SUV, matching the description of the vehicle involved in the earlier crashes, lodged in the ravine at the northwest corner of the intersection.
Driver Arrested and Released on Summons
The driver, later identified as 57-year-old Brenda Jordan, was taken into custody by the GJPD. She was transported to a local hospital by the Grand Junction Fire Department for treatment of minor injuries.
Jordan was arrested after being discharged from the hospital and was released on a summons for DUI and Careless Driving.
Charges and Ongoing Investigation
At this time, the investigation is ongoing, but authorities have confirmed that no additional injuries occurred after Jordan was arrested.
