Fort Wayne’s golfers can dust off their clubs as the city’s parks department has announced the official opening date for the 2025 season. Starting next Saturday, March 22, three public golf courses—Foster, Shoaff, and McMillen Park—will be ready to welcome players.
Courses Ready for Play Despite Construction Adjustments
Golf enthusiasts will have access to all three courses, but those heading to Foster Park Golf Course should expect some changes. Due to ongoing construction near the course, temporary tees and greens will be in place throughout the season. The city assures golfers that the course remains playable, though these adjustments will remain in effect indefinitely.
Shoaff and McMillen’s driving ranges, however, are still subject to daily assessments. Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation will determine their status each morning based on weather and ground conditions.
Operating Hours and Tee Time Information
Players can begin their rounds at sunrise, with courses closing 30 minutes before sunset, provided the weather cooperates. Until at least the end of March, the earliest tee time available each day will be 10:00 a.m. Those eager to secure a spot should call the clubhouse of their preferred course in advance.
For those planning league reservations, business outings, or tournaments, the parks department recommends reaching out to Golf Operations Manager Gary Whitacre at 260-427-6016 or via email at gary.whitacre@cityoffortwayne.org
Season Passes and Additional Resources Available
