The Salvation Army hosted its annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner on November 28 in Grand Junction, Colorado, drawing hundreds of people together for food, love, and connection.
“We’re just loving people by filling their bellies with food and lots of joy,” said Major Sabrina Tumey of the Salvation Army.
A Feast for All
Thanksgiving is often described as a time for gratitude and togetherness, and that spirit was on full display at the Salvation Army’s local center, located at 1235 N 4th Street. Doors opened at 10 a.m., inviting anyone in the community to join.
By the time the event wrapped up at 2 p.m., around 300 attendees had come through, sharing meals with family, friends, and even strangers who quickly felt like family.
“We believe that people should eat, feel warm, and be seen,” Tumey said passionately.
The menu was as hearty as the atmosphere. Traditional Thanksgiving staples, like turkey and stuffing, were served with generous portions of warmth and hospitality.
