Fruita Welcomes Shannon Vassen as New City Manager

Shannon Vassen officially stepped into his role as Fruita’s new City Manager, bringing years of experience and a deep connection to the Western Colorado community.

From Interim Leader to Permanent City Manager

After six years serving Fruita in various capacities, including as interim City Manager, Vassen now takes the reins in a permanent capacity. His appointment marks the beginning of a term focused on ambitious community goals.

“Very excited about all the things we’re going to accomplish,” Vassen shared. “We have a lot of ambitious goals. The Council and community over the next three to four years. So happy to be a part of that, of course, give back to the community.”

Vassen, who has spent most of his life in Western Colorado, said the opportunity to contribute further to his hometown is nothing short of a dream come true.

As outlined in the Fruita Strategic Plan, Vassen’s tenure will center around three primary objectives:

    Vassen aims to promote economic growth and improve local job opportunities while ensuring that Fruita remains a desirable and affordable place to live.
  3. Core Service Delivery
    Maintaining and improving essential city services will be at the heart of Vassen’s efforts, ensuring that residents receive the support they need in their daily lives.

Ambitious Goals for Fruita’s Future

Vassen’s appointment has sparked optimism about Fruita’s potential for growth and development. The City Council, in collaboration with the new City Manager, is preparing to implement projects and initiatives aligned with the strategic plan.
