ISP K9 Bandit to Receive Protective Body Armor Donation
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – An Indiana State Police K9 is set to receive a new layer of protection, thanks to a generous donation. Bandit, a K9 officer stationed at the ISP Toll Road Post, will soon be equipped with bullet and stab-resistant body armor.
A Gift of Safety
The protective vest is being donated by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to outfitting law enforcement dogs with lifesaving gear. The vest was sponsored by Kurt and Sherry Riecken of New Haven, ensuring Bandit has added protection while serving on duty.
A Special Inscription
Bandit’s new vest will feature an embroidered message: “Born to Love – Trained to Serve – Loyal Always.” This personal touch highlights the dedication and service of K9 officers like Bandit, who put themselves in harm’s way to protect their communities.
Bandit’s Role in ISP
Bandit became part of the Indiana State Police’s Toll Road Post in December, quickly becoming a valuable asset in law enforcement operations. K9 officers assist in detecting narcotics, searching for suspects, and providing security for officers in the field.
This donation ensures that Bandit has the best possible protection while carrying out these critical duties, reinforcing the importance of safety for both human and canine officers.
