A unique culinary event in Palisade gave community members the chance to experience Girl Scout cookies in an entirely new way. Local chefs transformed the beloved treats into creative sweet and savory dishes as part of a fundraiser.
A Tasty Fundraiser for a Good Cause
On Friday evening, the Give a Chef a Cookie fundraiser took center stage, bringing together food lovers and community members to support Girl Scouts in Western Colorado. The event, which kicked off at 6 p.m., challenged chefs to incorporate Girl Scout cookies into their dishes, showcasing their creativity.
Participating restaurants included Ale House, Reckless Brewing, Bookcliff Country Club, Feisty Pint, Flavors Grille, and more, each presenting unique culinary interpretations of the iconic cookies.
Supporting Girls Through Scholarships
The fundraiser plays a vital role in ensuring financial barriers don’t prevent girls from joining the Girl Scouts.
“It’s an annual fundraiser for Girl Scouts in western Colorado specifically. So the money raised here tonight will go to fund things like our scholarship program,” said Ashley Sisneros, Regional Manager for Western Colorado. “We’re pretty strong in the fact that we never let finances stand in the way of a girl participating in Girl Scouts, and so any family, no matter their need, can participate in Girl Scouts and be a part of the program.”
A Culinary Challenge for Local Chefs
Adding to the excitement, each chef was given a blind draw to determine which cookie they would feature as the main ingredient in their dish. This surprise element pushed chefs to think outside the box, resulting in unexpected and delightful flavor combinations.
With a blend of creativity, community, and charity, the Give a Chef a Cookie fundraiser continues to be a delicious way to support young girls in Western Colorado.
