GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is pushing back against misinformation circulating on social media regarding the Amanda Overstreet case, emphasizing that unverified claims have led to harassment of an individual falsely linked to the investigation.
MCSO Addresses False Allegations
The sheriff’s office issued a statement clarifying that Dave Imer is not a suspect in the case, countering rumors that have spread online. Authorities noted that individuals unaffiliated with law enforcement have been sharing misleading information, leading to unwarranted scrutiny and personal distress for Imer and his family.
The statement urged the public to rely on official sources for updates rather than unverified social media posts.
Ongoing Investigation, No New Updates
Officials confirmed that the Overstreet case remains an open and active investigation. However, they did not provide additional details regarding potential suspects or developments.
Law enforcement continues to review evidence, urging patience and cooperation from the public. MCSO reiterated that spreading false information can not only harm innocent individuals but also hinder investigative efforts.
