Grand Junction residents have a say in shaping the identity of the city’s new recreation center. The Parks and Recreation Department has launched an online survey, open from March 3 through April 6, allowing the community to submit name ideas and visual branding concepts.
Community Engagement Opportunities
City officials are encouraging residents to participate in multiple ways. Those interested can contribute through an online survey or attend an in-person discussion.
- The survey is open to all residents until April 6.
- A community meeting will be held on April 1 at 5:30 p.m. at Lincoln Park Barn, 910 N. 12th St.
- Attendees can provide feedback and sign up for construction tours.
The event offers a chance to hear updates from city staff while helping to shape the future of the recreation center’s branding and design.
Vision for the Recreation Center
According to Ken Sherbenou, Grand Junction Parks and Recreation Director, the new facility is designed to serve as a hub for active living. The goal is to create a space that promotes health and wellness across all age groups while reflecting the values of the community.
“Community input has been the driving force behind this project from the start,” Sherbenou said. “We’re excited to continue engaging with residents as we shape this center together.”
Construction Progress and Next Steps
While branding discussions take place, construction planning for the recreation center is also progressing. The city will offer guided tours of the construction site, giving residents a first-hand look at the facility’s development. Those attending the April 1 meeting will have the first opportunity to sign up for these tours.
As the project moves forward, city officials emphasize the importance of ongoing public involvement. The final branding decisions will reflect the collective vision and priorities of Grand Junction’s residents.
