West Jordan, Utah – The West Jordan Police Department (WJPD) made a grim discovery near Utah Lake, finding the body of 58-year-old Douglas Steadman. Steadman had been reported missing on Friday, May 31, and his disappearance triggered a Silver Alert due to his early-onset dementia, COPD, and sleep deprivation. Here’s what we know:
The Disappearance
Steadman was last seen on that fateful Friday afternoon, possibly wearing a black hat, jeans, white tennis shoes, and a white shirt. He was likely driving a white 1991 Ford Ranger with a white shell. His departure was without his required medication, adding to the urgency of the search.
The Investigation
Detective Rhonda Fields from the WJPD led the search efforts. Although there was information that Steadman had traveled through Spanish Fork Canyon, he was last seen leaving West Jordan. The investigation took a tragic turn when, on Wednesday, June 5, Steadman’s lifeless body was discovered near Utah Lake. The Utah County Sheriff’s Office has taken over the case, but at this time, foul play is not suspected.
