Samsung’s $1,230 Galaxy Unpacked Deal: How It Stacks Up
Samsung’s July 22 Unpacked reservation offers up to $1,230 in savings, but the $30 credit is down from last year’s $50 and the trade-in is the real engine.
Samsung will host its next Galaxy Unpacked on July 22, 2026 in London, and the reservation page is already promising up to $1,230 in total savings for anyone who puts their name down before the event. The figure bundles a $30 Samsung credit with a much larger trade-in payout, and it arrived the same day Samsung opened reservations on samsung.com and in the Shop Samsung app.
The big number is real, and so is the smaller one. Samsung is paying a smaller reservation credit this year than it did for the Z Fold 7 launch, and the side sweepstakes has been split into ten prizes instead of one. The trade-in is still where most of the $1,230 comes from, which is the part of the deal buyers tend to underweight.
Samsung’s Unpacked Goes to London on July 22
Samsung has confirmed that Galaxy Unpacked will take place on July 22, 2026 in London, U.K., per Samsung’s Unpacked invitation. The event begins at 2 p.m. BST, 9 a.m. EDT, and 3 p.m. CEST, and will stream live on Samsung.com, the Samsung Newsroom, and Samsung’s YouTube channel.
It is the company’s first Unpacked in London, and Samsung is using the venue to position the foldable category it has led since 2019. The invitation carries the tagline “A New Shape Unfolds,” a phrase that lands as a wink at the rumored wider form factor that has circulated in leaks for months. “Combining intelligent capabilities with innovative form factors, the next generation of Galaxy devices are set to deliver more personal and adaptive experiences and set a new standard for the AI era,” Samsung’s invitation reads.
Samsung typically hosts summer Unpacked in Seoul or a US city, and a London event is also where the company has often run its biggest marketing pushes. ZDNET will be on the ground covering the announcements, the outlet said, and live coverage will be available on Samsung’s own channels for everyone else.
What Samsung Has Confirmed, and What It Hasn’t
Samsung’s own invitation confirms the date, the city, the time, and the reservation offer, and it stops there. The company has not yet confirmed the device list, the prices, or whether the rumored Galaxy Glasses will be unveiled on stage. “Samsung kept Unpacked’s details to a minimum, but said that the new devices will ‘build on its leadership in foldables’ and blend AI capabilities with new form factors,” ZDNET reported.
What leaks and certifications have already told us is closer to a roster than a sketch. The Galaxy Z Fold 8, the Z Flip 8, and a wider Z Fold 8 are widely expected, alongside the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, with the Galaxy Glasses and a new clip-on earbud called the Galaxy Able listed as possibilities. Samsung has not officially confirmed any of those names.
The $1,230 Savings Headline and the Catch
Samsung’s reservation page advertises up to $1,230 in total savings for anyone who reserves the next Galaxy device before the event. The figure is real, and the headline is the only number in the offer that grabs the eye. It is also the only number that requires the most from the buyer.
The $1,230 ceiling is not a flat discount. It is the maximum you can save when you stack the $30 Samsung credit on top of the eligible trade-in credit Samsung applies to your old device. Android Authority noted that the $1,230 figure “includes eligible trade-in discounts and other promotional offers, which will vary by device and purchase.” In other words, the trade-in does the heavy lifting, and the $30 credit is the cherry on top.
For buyers who do not want to trade in, Samsung has a separate path. Customers who select “No Trade-In” can receive a $200 Samsung Credit toward eligible Buds, Watches, Tablets, or select accessories at pre-order, per the reservation page. That credit is also a one-time e-certificate that cannot be applied to the device itself and is forfeit if the order is returned.
The reservation credit itself comes with a list of conditions spelled out in the reservation page’s fine print. Buyers have to pre-order and purchase the reserved device with the same email address used to reserve, and the credit has to be used at the time of purchase toward select Galaxy Ring, Accessories, Buds, Watches, Samsung Care+, or Tablets. Any unused value is lost when the certificate is first used, and the credit is non-transferable and limited to one per qualifying purchase. The three layered savings:
- $30 reservation credit, applied at pre-order
- $200 Samsung Credit toward accessories on the no-trade-in path
- Eligible trade-in credit on the device you send in, capped by the $1,230 total ceiling
A Smaller Credit and a Smaller-Field Sweepstakes
The reservation perk is real, and it is also thinner than last year’s. Samsung offered a $50 reservation credit when it launched the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in 2025, and the bonus has been cut to $30 for the Z Fold 8 cycle, Android Authority reported. That is a 40% drop in the headlined reservation perk, even before any trade-in math.
The sweepstakes has been reshaped too. Where last year’s promotion awarded a single $5,000 Samsung.com gift card, this year’s promotion is awarding ten $500 gift cards, Android Authority noted. The total prize pool still comes to $5,000, and the new format spreads the winners across ten households instead of one.
The sweepstakes window opened at 7 p.m. EDT on July 7, 2026 and closes at 9 a.m. EDT on July 22, 2026, per the reservation page. It is open to legal residents of the 50 US and DC who are 18 or older, and no purchase is necessary to enter.
What the July 22 Roster Looks Like So Far
The foldable lineup is shaping up to be the biggest change Samsung has shipped in years. Leaks point to three Z Fold models this year: the standard Z Fold 8, a Z Fold 8 Ultra, and a wider Z Fold 8 Wide aimed at the form factor Apple is rumored to bring to its own foldable iPhone. The Wide Z Fold 8 and Watch Ultra 2 BIS filing surfaced in India in the run-up to the keynote, and the Z Flip 8 is also expected, with a cheaper Z Flip 8 FE mentioned in rumors. The 9to5Google price leak, attributed to WinFuture, puts the Z Fold 8 at €1999.00 in Germany and the Z Fold 8 Ultra at €2199.00, a €100 step up from the prior generation.
On the wrist, Samsung is dropping the Classic design this year and replacing it with the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, GSMArena reported, citing confirmation that came through code in the latest Galaxy Wearable app. The Watch Ultra 2 is expected to run on the new Snapdragon Wear Elite SoC and ship with a 5,000-nit peak brightness OLED, the same report said. The earlier Galaxy Watch 9 design and chipset leak outlined the same hardware direction. Galaxy Able, a new clip-on earbud that uses bone conduction, also turned up in that same Galaxy Wearable app code, and the “Buds” branding has been dropped from its name.
The Galaxy Glasses, the smart eyewear Samsung teased at February’s Unpacked, are also tipped for an appearance. ZDNET framed them as the “real show-stopper” of the event, though the publication stopped short of calling their appearance certain. The earlier Z Fold 8 crease coverage also pointed to a fold line that is finally narrowing on this generation. Either way, July 22 is going to be a busy keynote.
WinFuture also leaked European pricing for the watch lineup, and 9to5Google carried the figures. Here is how the new watches are expected to price in Germany, with last year’s increase noted:
| Model | Germany price (2026) | Increase over 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Watch 9 40mm BT | €409.00 | +€40 |
| Galaxy Watch 9 40mm LTE | €459.00 | +€50 |
| Galaxy Watch 9 44mm BT | €439.00 | +€30 |
| Galaxy Watch 9 44mm LTE | €489.00 | +€30 |
| Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 LTE | €749.00 | +€50 |
The increases work out to roughly 10% across the lineup, the report said. US prices are not in the leak, and 9to5Google noted that the euros “can’t be converted directly” to a US figure.
How to Watch, and How to Reserve
The keynote streams on Samsung.com, the Samsung Newsroom, and Samsung’s YouTube channel at 2 p.m. BST, 9 a.m. EDT, and 3 p.m. CEST on July 22. ZDNET will be on the ground for live coverage of the announcements.
Reservations are open now on Samsung’s reservation page for the new Galaxy and in the Shop Samsung app, and the process is commitment-free. The $30 credit applies automatically if you pre-order the same device with the same email address, and reservations stay open until pre-orders begin after the keynote, per Android Authority.
