Blue Jacket Kicks Off 30th Annual Fantasy of Lights

The much-anticipated Blue Jacket Fantasy of Lights returned for its 30th season, opening its gates to Fort Wayne residents and visitors with a dazzling display of holiday spirit. This year, the event boasts a new entrance on Goshen Road and promises an unforgettable experience with a show that’s “bigger, better, and brighter.”

A Holiday Tradition with a Mission

Tony Hudson, Chief Director at Blue Jacket, spoke proudly about the event’s legacy in Fort Wayne.

“This is not just any light show,” Hudson shared. “It’s the largest of its kind in the country, and being part of this long-standing tradition is truly an honor.”

But the Fantasy of Lights is more than just a visual spectacle. At its core, the event serves as a lifeline for individuals seeking second chances. Over the years, the initiative has provided jobs to around 75 people annually, supporting those who have graduated from Blue Jacket Academy programs.

A Personal Story of Hope

Phillip Sanchez, a graduate of the Blue Jacket Academy in 2012, reflected on his journey and the impact the organization has had on his life.

“I called Blue Jacket and spoke to Tony,” Sanchez recalled. “It’s been uphill ever since.”

Sanchez and his family had the honor of flipping the switch to illuminate the lights for the season—a moment that filled him with pride.

“That was a phenomenal feeling,” Sanchez said. “And to let my kids do it made me feel good inside.”

What’s New This Year?

This season, visitors can look forward to:

  • A reimagined entrance on Goshen Road, streamlining the experience.
  • Expanded displays featuring cutting-edge lighting technology.
  • Amenities designed to enhance the visitor experience, from refreshments to interactive features.

The larger-than-life displays and festive atmosphere make it an unmissable part of Fort Wayne’s holiday celebrations.

Why It Matters

The Fantasy of Lights isn’t just a seasonal attraction; it’s a testament to the power of community support and the spirit of giving. Blue Jacket’s commitment to creating opportunities for those facing barriers to employment shines as brightly as the lights themselves.

From its humble beginnings to its current status as the largest light display in the country, the Fantasy of Lights continues to light up lives—both literally and figuratively.
