The event, a staple in the community, attracted over a thousand attendees eager to welcome 2025 with fun and science.

At precisely noon, 2,025 colorful balloons cascaded from the ceiling, met with delighted cheers and the sound of excited popping.

For families with sensory-sensitive children, a quieter countdown took place in the “Science on a Sphere” room. This thoughtful accommodation ensured that everyone could join the celebration in a way that suited their comfort.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Science Central, a milestone that interim Executive Director Larry Kay reflected on with pride.

“It’s been a fantastic year,” Kay shared, noting several major accomplishments:

Updates and replacements for existing exhibits to keep the museum fresh and engaging.
Progress on a planetarium, expected to open by the end of March 2025.
