GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A quiet Christmas Eve afternoon took a sudden turn when a green Nissan Frontier collided with an Arby’s restaurant at 1155 North Avenue. The crash, reported around 4 p.m., resulted in no injuries but caused structural damage to the fast-food establishment.
Brakes Fail: Driver’s Claim Supported
According to initial reports from the Grand Junction Police Department (GJPD), the driver stated that the vehicle’s brakes failed just before the crash. Early investigations confirmed this, with police radio traffic indicating the car’s brake system had indeed malfunctioned.
The Nissan struck the east side of the Arby’s, damaging support pillars that held up the ceiling.
No Injuries but Visible Damage
Fortunately, no one inside or outside the building was hurt during the incident. However, the crash left visible damage to the structure, raising concerns about the stability of the affected area.
The extent of the damage and potential repairs is yet to be determined, but Arby’s operations are expected to be impacted temporarily.
Ongoing Investigation
As this is a developing story, further updates from the GJPD and local authorities are anticipated. Officials are continuing to assess the vehicle’s condition and the structural integrity of the building to determine the next steps.
