Fort Wayne, Indiana – The Fall 2024 season of Girls on the Run of Northeast Indiana culminated in a celebratory 5K event held on Saturday, November 16, at Shoaff Park in Fort Wayne.
A Program with Purpose
Girls on the Run (GOTR) is an eight-week program designed for elementary and middle school-aged girls, combining physical activity with life skill development. The program, led by volunteer coaches, aims to inspire confidence, connection, and healthy habits in young participants.
Each season ends with two significant milestones: a Community Impact Project and a 5K run, where participants and their supporters come together to celebrate their journey and achievements.
The Fall 2024 Celebration
This season’s 5K event brought together over 150 girls from 14 teams across Allen, DeKalb, Steuben, and Noble Counties. Family members, friends, and community supporters joined the festivities, which took place against the backdrop of scenic Shoaff Park.
Executive Director Morgan Comsia reflected on the day’s success:
“The celebratory 5K is always my favorite day of the season. It’s so exciting to see all the girls enjoying themselves and being able to see the culmination of all their hard work. The weather and turnout were wonderful, and everyone enjoyed themselves amidst the beautiful scenery of Shoaff Park.”
Looking Ahead: Spring 2025
