One Dead in Christmas Day Shooting Near Downtown Fort Wayne
The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Christmas Day, leaving one man dead near downtown Fort Wayne.
Incident Details
Reports of gunfire were first received around 6 p.m. near the intersection of W Fourth Street and Wells Street. Officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Wells Street, where they discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders, including Fort Wayne Firefighters and TRAA Medics, provided aid at the scene. Unfortunately, the man was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Ongoing Investigation
The FWPD, in collaboration with the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Coroner’s Office, is actively investigating the case. Authorities have not released the identity of the victim or details regarding potential suspects.
