Boy Scouts of America Scout Troop 353 is gearing up for its 2nd annual indoor tree sale, a critical fundraiser for the group’s activities in the coming year. The event kicks off at Meadowlark Garden Center on Friday, Nov. 29, at 10 a.m., offering holiday shoppers a variety of trees and festive items.
Dates, Times, and What’s on Offer
The tree lot will be open on weekends from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., as well as from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 4 through Dec. 6.
Shoppers can choose from a selection of:
- Noble, Nordmann, and Douglas fir trees, ranging in size from 3 feet to 12 feet tall.
- Pre-decorated holiday wreaths.
- Homemade baked goods, perfect for gifting or holiday indulgence.
Scoutmaster Remi Galvan emphasized the importance of the event, saying, “Every campout, every adventure, every Merit Badge Rally where a Scout works toward rank advancement has a cost associated with it. This fundraiser helps defray costs – and in some cases, zero them out – so our Troop can have amazing opportunities to further their learning and skills.”
Supporting the Scouts
The fundraiser isn’t just about selling trees—it’s an opportunity for Scouts to take responsibility and develop practical skills. Troop members will manage everything from setting up the tree lot to assisting buyers with loading purchases into their vehicles. They’ll also ensure the area is left spotless once the sale concludes.
“This event is a big deal for the Scouts,” Galvan added. “They understand the direct impact it has on their activities and take their roles seriously.”
Discounts for Community Heroes
In recognition of their service, the troop is offering a 10% discount to military personnel (active or retired) and first responders. Shoppers need to present valid proof of service to qualify for the discount.
Until the Last Tree is Sold
Sales will continue daily until all trees, wreaths, and baked goods are sold. Proceeds from the fundraiser will directly support the Troop’s activities, including campouts, skill-building events, and rank advancements.
