The Suspect and the Stolen Items
A man is wanted by the Mesa County Crime Stoppers for allegedly stealing two Lego sets from a local Lego distributor, eBricks, in Grand Junction, Colorado. The theft occurred on February 20, 2024, around 3:30 p.m. The suspect is described as a white male, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and a black hat. He was seen carrying a Porsche 911 RSR set and a Star Wars Coruscant Guard Gunship set, which have a combined value of about $350.
The Store Owner’s Reaction
Edgar Garcia, the owner of eBricks, said he was shocked and disappointed by the theft. He said he opened the store last year to share his passion for Lego with the community. He said he has a lot of rare and collectible Lego sets on display, including some Star Wars sets that are very popular among customers. He said he hopes the thief will be caught and the sets will be returned.
The Rise of Lego Larceny
The theft of Lego sets is not a new phenomenon, but it has become more common in recent years, especially around Christmas time. Lego sets are attractive targets for thieves because they are easy to resell online for hundreds or even thousands of dollars, depending on their rarity and demand. The store owner said he appreciates any help from the public to recover his lost merchandise.
