Sony State of Play Hands Xbox and PC the Calendar

Sony’s September 3 State of Play locked release dates for eight Xbox and PC games that also ship on PlayStation 5. The English broadcast ran one hour and 45 minutes, then a Japan-focused show followed. Square Enix, Capcom, 4A Games, Pearl Abyss, Tripwire, and Konami used that stage to date storefronts Sony does not own.

PlayStation still got a last look at Marvel’s Wolverine, a PS5-only game due September 15, 2026. The dates that will actually sit in an Xbox and Steam library came from the third-party block, and those dates now run from October 2026 through April 2027.

Sony Staged a Show Xbox Gets to Keep

PlayStation listed the September 3 State of Play broadcast for 6:00 a.m. PT, 9:00 a.m. ET, with a second Japan show back to back. The English upload on the official PlayStation YouTube channel is one hour and 45 minutes, and it ends on Final Fantasy VII Revelation before the Japan hour starts.

Sony framed the morning as updates from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners, closing with an extended look at Revelation from Square Enix. Capcom, Deep Silver, Pearl Abyss, and Tripwire still walked out with Xbox Series X|S and PC windows attached. The peace-treaty joke writes itself: Xbox SKUs now sit in a PlayStation rundown without anyone treating that as a leak.

Metro 2039 had already had an Xbox First Look in April 2026. Monster Hunter Wilds and Crimson Desert already live on Xbox Series X|S and Steam. Sony’s contribution on September 3 was the calendar entry, plus PS5 Pro capture for the trailers. Xbox and PC players can ignore the DualSense close-ups and still leave with a dated list.

Which Xbox and PC Games Got Dates?

Eight games shown on September 3 are due on Xbox Series X|S and PC: Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, Metro 2039, Maneater 2, Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown, Final Fantasy Resonance, Gundam Rogue Orbit, Rhapsody in Scarlet, and Final Fantasy VII Revelation. Three of those also list Nintendo Switch 2, and Resonance keeps the original Switch as well. Only Rhapsody still lacks a day.

THE XBOX AND PC DATES FROM STATE OF PLAY

Deep Silver already posts February 4, 2027 on Steam for Metro 2039, matching the day 4A Games confirmed during the show. Maneater 2 also lists Nintendo Switch 2. Resonance lists Switch and Switch 2. Revelation lists Switch 2. Ascendance is an add-on for a hunt that already runs on Xbox and Steam, and Charting the Unknown is DLC for a game that launched March 19, 2026.

Square Enix Lined Up Xbox for April 8

The closer was the one Xbox players have been waiting to see dated. Square Enix said Final Fantasy VII Revelation April 8, 2027, across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Xbox on PC. That is the same morning Sony spent on the finale, not a later Xbox post.

Remake Intergrade and Rebirth are already out on Xbox Series X|S and PC, so the catch-up path is open. Square Enix is selling a digital Remake Series Trilogy Edition for $84.99 that grants those two games now and Revelation on launch, with pre-orders live on Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic as of September 3. A Streamlined Progression option in the first two games offers unlimited HP and MP, a full ATB gauge, and easier weapon skills for anyone who wants the story without a 100-hour grind.

The standard game is $69.99. Digital Premium is $99.99 and bundles a Story Expansion Pass plus 24-hour early access. Premium Plus is $109.99. A Collector’s Edition is $349.99 through the Square Enix Store. The Story Expansion Pass covers two later story packs, one on Sephiroth and one on Vincent and the Turks, planned between winter 2027 and spring 2028.

Physical Xbox Series X copies are one disc, and they still need a network download of extra data before the game will play. Switch 2 physical is a Game-Key Card that needs at least 130 GB free when you first launch it. The argument after the show was not “does Xbox get this.” Xbox already had the SKU. The argument was the incomplete disc, and Square Enix put that requirement on Xbox and PlayStation 5 alike.

New footage shows the Highwind as a free-roam airship, Piko the chocobo growing new traversal and combat skills, and Cid and Vincent as playable party members. A FITS role system layers Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner onto the hybrid combat. You can swap the character you control while exploring, and a grappling gun is in the mix. Queen’s Blood returns. That is the same build Xbox, PC, and Switch 2 will buy on April 8, 2027.

Two Fall Releases Hit Xbox in October

The nearest Xbox dates are not 2027 finales. Pearl Abyss set Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown for October 15, 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam and Epic. Square Enix set Final Fantasy Resonance, the first HD-2D Final Fantasy, for October 22, 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Switch, Switch 2, and PC via Steam.

Charting the Unknown is story DLC for a game Xbox already has. Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane push further across Pywel by land and sea. The trailer, captured on PS5 Pro, shows ship command, island hops, underwater work, house building, and large sea bosses. Pre-order bonuses are the Charter’s Diving set for Kliff and Oongka and the Charter’s Light Diving set for Damiane.

Resonance rebuilds the Lapis arc from Final Fantasy Brave Exvius as a turn-based HD-2D campaign. Visions let you equip classic heroes in battle. The September 3 trailer confirmed Sephiroth as a challenge you can hunt for a special reward, which is fan service with a boss HP bar, not a spoiler for Revelation. A free demo of the entire first chapter went live on PlayStation 5 the morning of the show, with save data that carries into the full game.

• Crimson DLC pre-orders: Charting the Unknown is buyable ahead of October 15, with the Charter diving outfits attached.
• Metro wishlist: 4A Games and Deep Silver still have the February 4, 2027 shooter on wishlists, with paid pre-orders due later in 2026.

Those four items are the part of the broadcast you can act on before Tokyo Game Show. The rest is a dated wait.

Metro 2039 Includes Xbox Play Anywhere

Robbie Cooke, head of brand at 4A Games, used the show to confirm Metro 2039 for February 4, 2027, and to debut console gameplay captured on PlayStation 5 Pro. Deep Silver says the game launches at the same time on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Xbox on PC. A 60fps Performance Mode with ray tracing is confirmed for Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 5 Pro.

Xbox’s store page is blunter about the purchase. You buy once for Xbox and PC under Play Anywhere, with no second fee to move between console and Windows. Sony got the pretty capture. Xbox got a single-buy license that follows you to a PC.

The year in the tunnels is 2039. Survivors have spent 25 years fighting under a poisoned Moscow, and a fanatical Spartan named Hunter now runs a Novoreich regime that sells a war for the surface. Out in the wilderness, a recluse called the Stranger is pulled back toward the Metro. Deep Silver says 4A wrote an original story with Metro novelist Dmitry Glukhovsky, not an adaptation of one book, and that the new lead is a clean entry point. The first console trailer stayed on gunfights, street rubble, and the 4A Engine’s ray-traced lighting rather than a plot dump.

Metro 2039 is also the cleanest example of the show’s split personality. An Xbox First Look put the game on the map in April. State of Play put a day on it in September, with PS5 Pro footage as the carrot for the PlayStation audience. The Steam, Epic, and Xbox on PC builds still ship on February 4.

Maneater, Gundam Rogue Orbit, and Konami’s Magus

Tripwire Interactive and Demiurge Studios finally showed Maneater 2, the sequel to the 2020 shark RPG. It is due in 2027 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. The new map is Neptune’s Kingdom, a private-island theme park holding an invite-only preview, and you are the disaster. Chris Parnell voices disgraced host Trip Westhaven. Tripwire opened a Maneater 2 page on Steam the same day, with a 2027 window and no day yet.

Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is the other 2027 add-on Xbox already has a reason to keep installed. It continues the Forbidden Lands story in the Skybound Eyrie, a set of ruin-covered islands above the clouds, and it adds a Boost Bracer that expands all 14 weapon types. The new trailer brought Lao-Shan Lung back, plus Kushala Daora, a pack flier named Araketa, and an elder dragon named Gundoraja. You need the base game, Hunter Rank 40, and the quest “Awaking From a Dream” before Master Rank opens. Capcom still has no month inside 2027.

Gundam Rogue Orbit is a single-player action campaign around a customizable Gundam Helix, dated March 5, 2027 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Steam. Konami’s Rhapsody in Scarlet is a new action game set in 1920s New York, with Ellie Myers as a magus who moonlights as a lounge singer and summons elemental beasts against a demonic invasion. It is listed for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Steam, with no day attached. If you watched State of Play for Xbox inventory, those two are the open loops. Gundam at least has a Thursday in March. Rhapsody is still a trailer and a name.

Pre-Orders Are Already Live on Xbox and Steam

Square Enix opened Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic pre-orders for Revelation on September 3, including the $84.99 trilogy pack that drops Remake Intergrade and Rebirth in your library immediately. Pearl Abyss is taking money for Charting the Unknown ahead of October 15. Resonance’s October 22 date is locked, and the first chapter is already playable on PS5 with a carry-over save. Metro 2039 is a wishlist with a February 4 ship date and a Play Anywhere hook on Xbox.

Sony still used the morning to sell a DualSense and a last Wolverine trailer. The third-party clock it put on screen is the one Xbox Series X|S and PC can actually keep, from an October DLC through an April finale, without waiting for a separate Microsoft show to stamp the same days.
