Honor Magic 9 Follows the Magic 8 Path to Europe

Honor lists the Magic 9 series for January 2027 in the UK and France, repeating last year’s Pro-first Europe delay after a three-phone China sale.

Honor’s UK and France sites list a January 2027 window for the Magic 9 series, led by the Pro Max. The phones went on sale in China on 28 September 2026. Honor has not posted a European price or a day.

The calendar matches last winter’s Magic 8 Pro run: Beijing first, Europe in January, and the top model on the poster.

A January Window on Honor’s UK Site

Honor’s own UK new-launch copy is blunt. It puts the Magic 9 series on sale from January 2027 and asks visitors to subscribe for an early bird discount. The same January window is on the French site. Neither page names a day in the month.

The artwork on those pages is the Magic 9 Pro Max in Shadow Black, Moss Green and Glacier Silver. Memory is listed as 12 GB with 256 GB or 512 GB of storage. That is a thinner menu than China, where the same phone also sells in 16 GB and 1 TB cuts. No euro or pound figure sits next to the signup box.

The rest of Europe is not named on those two sites. A January listing in London and Paris is a strong hint for nearby shops, not a dated continent-wide sale. Honor is collecting emails about three months before it says what the phones cost.

Honor’s UK account marked the China launch on 28 September, before the January pages went up, and asked what people made of the specs.

Beijing Put Three Magic 9 Phones on Sale the Same Day

Honor held its Magic 9 event in Beijing on 28 September 2026 and opened sales the same day. The stack is three phones, not four. There is no Magic 9 Pro. The company split the line into a compact camera phone, a cinema flagship, and a long-battery model with a fan.

Honor’s English launch note frames the Pro Max as a handheld cinema system and an end-to-end cinema workflow with ARRI, the German film-camera firm. Dual 200 MP cameras, ARRI LogC3, 10-bit colour and a full set of 87 ARRI Looks sit at the centre of that pitch.

Positioned as a handheld cinema system, HONOR Magic9 Pro Max brings an end-to-end professional cinema workflow into a mobile format, spanning cinema-grade interaction, recording, image quality, color, sound, LiveVideo and creation gear.

HONOR, Magic 9 Pro Max launch announcement, 28 September 2026

Honor CEO James Li called the series a ten-year piece for people who make photos and video. The hardware around that line is unusually physical for a phone launch: clip-on G200 and G500 teleconverters from 999 yuan and 1,999 yuan, a SmallRig cage, and a photographer kit at 10,999 yuan.

That cinema kit sits in the same product family as Honor’s motorised robot phone, which puts a camera on a moving arm. Europe has not been told whether any of the clip-on glass or the cage will be in the January boxes.

THE CHINA MAGIC 9 STACK

Model China start price Screen Chip Battery
Magic 9 Super Edition 4,499 yuan (about $670) 6.81 in Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 11,000 mAh
Magic 9 4,999 yuan (about $745) 6.37 in Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 8,000 mAh
Magic 9 Pro Max 6,499 yuan (about $970) 6.8 in Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 8,800 mAh

Those yuan figures are Honor’s China list, with sales through Honor Mall and shops on the launch day. The Pro Max also sells at 6,999 yuan, 7,499 yuan and 8,499 yuan as RAM and storage rise.

The Pro Max Carries the 2 nm Chip

The Pro Max is the only phone in the trio on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, a 2 nm part Honor says hits 5.01 GHz. It is the 6.8-inch LTPO “Black Diamond” panel at 10,000 nits peak, 1 to 120 Hz, and 4,320 Hz PWM. Wired charging is 100 W, wireless 80 W. The body is 8.59 mm and 233 g, with IP68, IP69 and IP69K, plus 3D face unlock and a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint.

The camera deck is a 200 MP main on a 1/1.28-inch sensor at f/1.57 with 3-degree gimbal-style stabilisation, a 200 MP periscope at 3.5x on a 1/1.4-inch sensor, and a 50 MP ultrawide. The front camera is 55 MP in a square 1:1 frame. Honor rates both long cameras at CIPA 8.0. Software is MagicOS 11 on Android 17.

A Fan and 11,000 mAh in the Super Edition

The Super Edition is the cheap ticket in China and the odd one for export. It uses the older Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a 6.81-inch screen, an 11,000 mAh cell, and a 30,000 rpm cooling fan. The cameras step down to a 200 MP main, 50 MP 3x telephoto and 12 MP ultrawide. It is 8.10 mm and 227 g. If any model stays in China, this is the likely one, because a phone with a fan is a harder sell in European shops than a quieter Pro Max.

The compact Magic 9 is the more tempting extra for the West. It keeps the dual 200 MP ARRI cameras in a 6.37-inch body, 8.49 mm thick and 209 g, with an 8,000 mAh cell and 80 W wired charging. Its colours in China are Popcorn Yellow, Opening White, Curtain Black and Olive Green, a different set from the Pro Max.

The Magic 8 Global Cut, Repeated

Honor has already shown how this movie ends. The Magic 8 series launched in Beijing on 15 October 2025 with a standard Magic 8 and a Magic 8 Pro. Abroad, the standard phone never appeared. Honor took the Pro to Malaysia on 27 November 2025, then to Britain the following January, and sold a cheaper Lite beside it in some European shops.

HONOR’S LAST TWO EUROPE WINTERS

  1. 15 October 2025: Honor launches the Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro in Beijing and opens China pre-orders.
  2. 27 November 2025: The Magic 8 Pro goes on stage outside China in Malaysia. The standard Magic 8 is absent from the global pitch.
  3. 8 January 2026: The Magic 8 Pro goes on sale in the UK at £1,099.99 in the UK in Sunrise Gold, Sky Cyan and Black, with a 6,270 mAh typical cell (6,090 mAh rated).
  4. 28 September 2026: Honor puts the Magic 9, Magic 9 Pro Max and Magic 9 Super Edition on sale in China.
  5. January 2027: Honor’s UK and France pages put the Magic 9 series on the calendar, with the Pro Max as the phone in the pictures.

From 28 September 2026 to 1 January 2027 is 94 days. Buyers who wait for a later week in January sit more than three months behind the China sale. That is the same seasonal gap Honor used for the Magic 8 Pro, which reached UK shops on 8 January after an October China launch.

Last year Honor also cut the battery when the Pro left China. The UK Magic 8 Pro’s 6,270 mAh typical figure is Honor’s own lab number, published with the London launch. Anyone pricing a January Magic 9 order against the 8,800 mAh China Pro Max is comparing two different markets until Honor posts a global cell size.

Which Magic 9 Models Reach Europe?

The UK page talks about a series and shows one phone. That gap is the whole European product question. Honor has confirmed colours and two storage cuts for the Pro Max. It has not said the compact Magic 9 will be sold, and it has not listed the Super Edition at all.

WHAT EUROPE HAS ON PAPER

  • On the UK and France pages: Magic 9 series from January 2027, Magic 9 Pro Max in three colours, 12 GB with 256 GB or 512 GB, email signup for an early bird discount with no amount attached.
  • On sale in China since 28 September: three models, 12 GB or 16 GB, storage up to 1 TB on the Pro Max, clip-on teleconverters and a 10,999 yuan photographer kit.
  • Still unpublished: a European day, a European price, whether the compact Magic 9 or Super Edition ships, whether 16 GB or 1 TB arrive, and the global battery size.

A Pro-only Europe launch would match Magic 8. A two-phone launch that adds the 6.37-inch Magic 9 would be a change, and it is the reading some product pages invite when they keep saying “series.” The Super Edition’s fan and 11,000 mAh pack make it the longest shot of the three for a Quiet European shelf.

China pricing also will not map cleanly. The Pro Max starts at 6,499 yuan, about $970, which undercuts what Honor charged in pounds for last year’s Pro. Import tax, a smaller battery, and a 12 GB ceiling can all push the January tag well above that yuan list. Honor has given itself until January to set that number.

8,800 mAh Is the China Battery

Honor’s China product page for the Pro Max puts an 8,800 mAh Qinghai Lake blade cell in the phone, with 40 percent silicon in the anode, 100 W wired charging and 80 W wireless. That is the figure every launch graphic uses. It is also a China figure. Honor has not published the capacity for the unit that will sit on UK and French pages in January.

The last time this company sold a Magic flagship in Britain, the cell shrank. The UK Magic 8 Pro shipped a 6,270 mAh typical pack. That cut is why a lot of import talk around Magic 9 starts with the battery, not the cameras. A dual-cell design would make a like-for-like global pack easier. Honor has not said it used one.

WHAT WE KNOW

  • China Pro Max: Honor lists 8,800 mAh, 100 W wired and 80 W wireless, on sale from 28 September 2026.
  • Last UK Pro: Honor’s 8 January 2026 Magic 8 Pro launch listed 6,270 mAh typical and 6,090 mAh rated.

WHAT IS UNCONFIRMED

  • Global Magic 9 Pro Max capacity: Honor has not posted a number for Europe or other overseas markets.
  • Shop clips of smaller packs: Unofficial hands-on videos are not a spec sheet, and they do not set the January phone.

Until Honor prints a global mAh figure, the 8,800 mAh headline is a China spec. The January phone can keep it, trim it, or change charging with it. Last year’s UK Pro is the only official overseas precedent Honor has on the table.

Honor’s January Slot Sits in Galaxy Season

Honor’s January 2027 window sits in the quarter when Samsung usually puts a Galaxy S series on stage. Samsung has not set a Galaxy S27 Unpacked date. The Galaxy S26 event was 25 February 2026, later than the old January habit, so a 2027 return to January is a guess, not a booking.

What Honor has booked is narrower and firmer. UK and French pages are live. The Pro Max is the phone in the photos. Colours and two storage cuts are listed. The signup form is already asking for an email in return for a discount that has no number. That is the same winter slot Honor used for the Magic 8 Pro, when the UK price was £1,099.99 and the standard Magic 8 stayed in China.

If the compact Magic 9 follows the Pro Max into those shops, January becomes a two-phone event and the “series” line on the teaser is earned. If it does not, Honor will have sold Europe another Pro-shaped winter, three months after Beijing, with the cinema cameras as the pitch and the battery size still to come. The form on Honor’s UK site is live. The price is not.

Numbers get particular attention here. A percentage in a business story is recomputed from the underlying figures before it goes live, a benchmark in a technology or gaming review is quoted with the conditions it was measured under, and a transfer fee or a lap time in the sports and auto pages is traced back to the club, the league or the timing sheet that published it. The same rule covers news, science, entertainment, lifestyle and travel: if a figure cannot be tied to a filing, a dataset, a transcript or a test Harry ran himself, it does not appear.
